  • Let the Games Begin!

    Funded Aug 11, 2024

Thank you for supporting our project! The Nintendo Switch made a big difference by giving students a fun way to build teamwork, practice problem-solving, and think strategically. Through interactive games, students learned to communicate and work together while applying STEM skills in a fun setting.

This project helped create a welcoming space where students made friends, practiced social skills, and found ways to lead and organize activities. It became a space where students from different backgrounds could connect and share their love for gaming.

Coming from diverse, mostly low-income backgrounds, our students now have a fun and positive way to connect, learn, and grow together. We are so grateful for your support in helping us create a positive and inclusive space where every student felt welcome and could thrive. Thank you very much!”

  • Please Give My Students A Head Start!

    Funded Aug 12, 2024

Thank you for supporting this project! The items you provided made a big difference in our students' learning and well-being. Pens and markers helped students write and express their thoughts, building confidence and improving their writing skills. Soft toys and pillows made the classroom feel safe and calm, helping reduce stress. Snacks kept students' energy up so they could stay focused, and board games gave them chances to work together and build social and thinking skills.

This project allowed us to create a caring, supportive space where students felt encouraged and ready to learn. Our students come from diverse backgrounds and face many challenges, but they are incredibly resilient and eager to succeed. As a Title 1 school with all students on free or reduced meal plans, we are grateful to provide resources that positively impact their learning experience.

Thank you for helping us make our classroom a place where every student can grow and thrive!”

First and foremost, a big THANK YOU to all of you!

The snacks was very much appreciated by my students! And it came at a time when they most needed it. We had a two-day testing event and the snacks came in very handy!

The students are so happy that they have something to eat over the four-hour testing schedule. They all claimed that it provided them with the energy they needed to do well on the test.

We know that those snacks helped the students score better on the test. And so we thank you for helping our students raise their test scores.

    Thank you!”

  • Calming Area

    Funded Jan 4, 2023

Here's a big THANK YOU to all of our generous donors! The resources have proved to be a great help in providing my students with a safe, calming area. The materials come a long way in helping my students de-stress and cope with their anxieties, fears, depression, mental/emotional challenges, persoetc. It is a win to see students smile when they've been having a bad day.

My students were thrilled and excited! It brought smiles to everyone's faces.

Stress is a natural feeling. It is designed to help us cope in challenging situations. In small amounts it can be good, because it pushes us to work hard and do our best, such as when students take exams. But if students are feeling very stressed or feel that they cannot manage stress, it can lead to mental health problems such as depression and anxiety. And these affects academic performance. We hope that these materials help our students cope, de-stress and feel cared for. And help them navigate daily school life.

    Again, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. V

  • Let's Fight Climate Change One Classroom at a Time

    Funded Dec 28, 2019

Thank you very much for your generous donation.

The kits have been very invaluable in the class! We are using it to explore various forms of renewable energy sources. It is teaching them the urgent need to change from our dependence to fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. They understand that burning fossil fuels release greenhouse gas that accelerate climate change.

The students are all awed when they first opened the kits! We never had these learning tools in the classroom before. And since the kits allow them to build models, they sure love it! They love working with their hands!

Thanks to you, we now have a generation who has a better understanding of why we need to care for our Earth, They know that there is no Plan(et) B. But the learning doesn't stop with the kits. Now, students are eager to know more how they can help fight climate change. I think it may not be too late after all. I have faith in our young generation. Again, thank you for your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. V

Students are engaged in a STEM project where they are looking for an efficient and effective metal catalyst that can photo electrolyze water. A laptop would be an excellent tool for their research. Even with just 20 earth abundant metals to start, the combinations of these metals can run in the millions! With the use of a laptop, students can easily use it to record their data, plot and analyze results, and share their results with the scientific community. And once this metal catalyst is found, it can be utilized in the production of hydrogen gas -- which could eventually free us from our dependence on fossil fuels. Los Angeles with its year-round photochemical smog needs to cut its reliance on fossil fuels. My students are doing the research so we can find the catalyst that can easily photo electrolyze water (and we have plenty of saltwater) with just the aid of sunlight (and we too have plenty of that!). We may be able to solve our energy problem and cut out smog. Ambitious? Yes, but everything always has to start because someone dared.
