  • Supplies in Need

    Funded Apr 7, 2021

Thank you for your donation and support in replenishing our supplies in need. The children were so excited when they got your package. They felt so loved and special because of your generosity. When my students returned to school this year, many of them were directly impacted by the pandemic since our school is located in what was the epicenter of the pandemic. Despite the challenges they may be facing at home, your kindness allowed them to stay organized by using one notebook to travel back and forth from remote learning and in-person learning.

We have used all of the supplies every day in all subjects. Most recently, we printed out our argumentative essays and used the post-its to give peer feedback to our classmates. The children used their grow and glow comments to go back and revise their writing.

We are currently, writing a graphic novel and using the post its to organize their writing in boxes, as well as, computer paper to sketch scenes. Your donation will continue to benefit our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sladowski

  • Help Us Go West!

    Funded Nov 20, 2018

When I first saw this project was funded, I was so grateful. I couldn't wait to share the amazing news to my class! During our second unit of study in Literacy, we learned about the Westward expansion, using the read aloud, Ranger in Time, Rescue on the Oregon Trail. Your donation provided a copy for each student to follow along. This allowed them to learn and reread sections that seemed confusing and provided them the opportunity to return back to the book to look for evidence to support their ideas during discussions.

In our classroom we discussed the struggles and impact of the history of heading west through literacy. While reading we stopped and noted when the author showed a difference of what we know and what is happening in the text. We looked for what life lessons we could learn and how it could affect the character, we looked into what the characters were saying, doing and why, and when a character realizes and finally understands something.

Having a copy of the book for each student allowed for our students to succeed. One of the students who has an Individual Education Plan, has asked to keep the book, so he can reread the book again.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sladowski

  • Add a Little Brightness

    Funded Jun 10, 2021

Thank you so much for helping me fund my project. My students were so excited to hear the news when I told them. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. I can not wait to start printing in color and making our classroom colorful. I know the students are also happy to know that the classroom will have headphones to help students focus when using their devices. Thank you again for helping to give my students the tools they need to be successful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sladowski

  • Let's Keep It Clean

    Funded Oct 3, 2020

When my students returned to school after our closure in March, many of them felt apprehensive about returning to in-person learning. Many of my students were directly impacted by the pandemic since our school is located in what was the epicenter of the pandemic. Providing my students a safe and clean environment was paramount to a successful return to in-person learning. When I first saw this project was funded, I was so grateful. I couldn't wait to share the news with my class.

When we received the basic cleaning and safety materials the students were so excited to know our classroom was safe. They couldn't believe that strangers we so willing to send us the supplies we needed! These materials helped to ease their apprehension knowing we had what we needed to stay safe. This allowed them to begin to focus on their academics and social-emotional learning instead of the dangers of the pandemic.

These materials have proved to be essential to the success of our lunch in the classroom program. The large contractor bags allows us to store all the garbage in one place for the day since our garbage cans are too small. It has also been helpful to have wipes and tissues available for students' use. The simple items are allowing us to help keep our classroom sanitary.

Thank you for making a difference in the life of my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sladowski

We are beginning our second unit of study in Literacy. We will be learning about the Westward Expansion. Our grade will be using Ranger in Time, Rescue on the Oregon Trail as a read aloud. Our school has only provided us with a teacher's copy. We would like our students to be able to follow along and reread the text at home, therefore we are requesting one for each student. We feel that they would learn better if they had the text in front of them. We will be discussing the book and having it in front of them allows them to return back to the book to look for evidence to support their ideas.
