For the purposes of historical research and investigation, we would like to purchase a set of chromebooks. This technology would allow our students to build themselves as critical consumers of information, gaining and practicing abilities including: historical research, evaluation of sources, reading comprehension, synthesis, collaboration, technological competence, and resource identification. Our desire is to take advantage of all that is available to a modern classroom, whether it be videos, document and presentation creation, creative expression of ideas, and access to facts and opinions that are relevant to the study of history. With these tools, students will be able to study using the methods that actual historians use in the modern day. A student's understanding of the world and the skills that we use to interpret or impact it is closely aligned with access to information and engagement or interaction with that information. The largest benefit of these resources would be that they will affect students not just for this year, but for years to come as well. All history classes could use these sets as necessary, expanding the scope of students who might benefit from this investment in our studies. Please consider helping our efforts as teachers of history to create historians and problems solvers, true world changers, in our classrooms.
