In Fourth Grade, we spend a portion of the time doing independent reading. These books will expand our classroom library. They will allow the students to find a book that interests them, and in some cases complete the series they start. My students come from lowsocioeconmic community, and these books will open the door to another world that they may not experience otherwise. Reading as a child is vital. It expands their vocabulary, develops their understanding, and even their imagination. The books I have chosen differ to meet all of my student's interests. They will be treated with love and care. The only way to become a stronger reader is to read, and read something you enjoy.
