As a first-year bilingual teacher at a low-income school, we do not have the resources for our students to learn through play. I would like these resources for my students to use during reading and math workstations. As a first-year teacher, I do not have the resources for them to be able to enjoy workstations. These games and puzzles will help them learn while having fun at the same time. I believe kindergarten students learn best through play. Play is the work of children, Fred Rogers of Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood always reminded us. But over the past decades, the American kindergarten experience has become much more academic—at the expense of play. There is a huge misconception out there that when students are playing they are not learning. When children play they experience empathy, collaboration, and kindness.
