  • Let’s Express Ourselves: Pre-K Music and Art

    Funded Sep 4, 2022

Thank you so much for the generous donations you have all made! The students and myself are very grateful. The students were able to create self-portraits with the materials that were purchased. They really enjoyed looking at themselves and exploring who they are inside and out!

With the new paint brushes, students are able to keep the paint separate and not mix them up! Students are able to practice their colors while painting at the same time. Over in the drama center, students are learning organizational skills by putting away the dress up clothes and construction tools on the hangers and shelves.

The classroom has much more noise with the addition of shaker eggs and maracas. The students can practice pattern making, rhythm, and free exploration with the musical instruments!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Musham

  • Get Our Minds Thinking: Games for Everyone!

    Funded Feb 25, 2020

I cannot thank you enough for your generous donations. Thank you for helping to ensure gaming afternoons will be exciting and memorable. I can't wait to see the looks on the students faces when they are choosing which game they get to play on Friday afternoons. Cheers to everyone who donated. I cannot wait to get this project going.”

  • Getting Ready for 2nd Grade Reading!

    Funded Oct 14, 2019

The generous donations to this project provided me with series books for my classroom. Working with students in a high need area presents many unique challenges on a daily basis. A significant number of the students I work with are learning English as a second language. I am constantly looking for new fiction books that are grade level as well as reading level appropriate and at the same time engaging. This project definitely did that!

My classroom received multiple boxes of Mercy Watson(their favorite pig), Henry and Mudge, Mr. Putter and Tabby as well as Poppleton. My students now have a greater variety to choose from when going "book shopping" on their day. They are excited to read about Mercy and what mischief she will get herself into. They are ready to join book clubs and have rich discussions on how the characters grow across the series. The students have already read the Mercy Watson series from beginning to end and have started to read it again!

I am so grateful for the donations that allowed me to receive new books for my classroom. I am excited to continue to build my classroom library with the help of generous donors. Having people support my classroom and believe in my students is really inspiring. Thank you again for your donations!”

    With gratitude,

During literacy rotations, kids will have a chance to spend time in our class library. Students are reading every day for 25 minutes with a minimum of 8 books in their book baggies. Each week students are switching out their books for new books. However, after a few weeks, book baskets will be empty and students will be repeating books. The best way to get them excited to read is to have books available that grab their attention and cover characters and topics of interest to them. It's wonderful when they are so excited that they want to share a book with a friend. These are titles of books and topics they told me they want, they are very excited about the possibility of new books! My school is partnering with Teacher's College to implement the reader's and writer's workshop. I understand the importance of a large classroom library for my students to have books available to them within the classroom. They see literature surrounding them and will be able to take advantage of getting lost in a book during the school day. Kids will have a wide variety of topics to read about and new books to explore. With the addition of new pre-emergent books in the classroom library, all students will feel successful in reading. This will get kids invested in our classroom library and excited about reading- not only this year but for years to come!
