App-solutely Excited to Teach with an iPad

Funded Jan 12, 2021

Thank you again for sponsoring my project! I love using the iPad and pen during my first grade lessons. Since I work in a blended classroom my week is split between remote and in person days. While remote, I have been using the iPad as an extra device to help me present my lessons on Google Meets to the class. The pen has made it easier for me to demonstrate on Google slides that I use during my assignments. Also, now that I have an iPad, I can troubleshoot a lot of the issues that the children have remotely because I can go through the steps on my iPad then explain it to the student. In the classroom, the iPad is used to organize data that helps me create small group work based on the students' needs. While in small groups, I use the iPad as a board to display interactive activities. I have also found some fun apps that help the children learn new skills.

The children love using the iPad during their small groups. Since they are young, most are visual learners and the iPad helps show lessons that are colorful and interactive. It makes learning fun.

I have some children with learning disabilities and I find that they really like having the iPad used in their small groups. Since I usually find interactive activities and apps to work on with them, they seem to enjoy being part of the small group because they can tap and circle many answers instead of writing words and sentences which is often difficult for them. Many of the apps also help them read words that are troublesome.

Thanks to your generosity, I am able to add much needed technology to my teaching. It has been a big help for me and my students.”

With gratitude,
