These No Fear Shakespeare graphic novels will help increase the engagement and comprehension of one of Shakespeare's greatest tragedies. This play is required reading for 9th grade, and so many of my students struggle with the language. They get lost trying to decode Shakespeare and miss out on the message he is trying to get across to his readers. Also, this will provide a visual for my students that they would get if watching the play or a film adaptation. Graphic novels are also very appealing because of their comic book nature. Students become invested in them because they are comfortable with the style. I have seen nothing but great results when I have used them in the past. Unfortunately, I no longer have access to those old copies, and do not have the funds for a full class set. I teach between 25-30 students on average. I teach six 9th grade courses each year. That would approximately impact 150-180 students a year. Our mission is to encourage reading. These graphic novels would go a long way in helping connect my students to literature.
