  • Art on the Move

    Funded Oct 17, 2024

First off, Thank you so much for your generous donation towards my project Art on the move. I am a STEAM teacher in a public school and service various classes throughout the school. when completing a STEAM lesson it most days takes about 2 days and needs various supplies. Many days you would see me walking from class to class, pulling my little wagon. When arriving to the classes I found many times there was no space to place all the supplies. This mobile table cart gives me the ability to float class to class, with the supplies laid out and ready for creating unique projects. This cart has become so useful to me and making my projects run more efficiently. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Carrillo

  • Dreaming Green

    Funded Dec 27, 2021

Thank you so much for your contribution to our Dream and Green teams recycling project. This year our Dream in Green team wanted to make a difference and begin a recycle program in our school. The students distributed the blue recycle bins to over 35 classrooms. They have also set up a recycle station with the four large recycle bins for classes to dispose of their recycle material. With your help my students were able to not only learn about recycling but spread the knowledge throughout the various classes. Thank you for all that you do!”

  • STEAMing up through TECHNOLOGY

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

First off, thank you so much for your generous donation. Your donation towards the apple airpro will benefit many students in my school. As a new STEAM coach I am trying to find innovative activities to inspire their creative minds. These new IPADs have now become one of my stations in my lab class. This has helped most when working with my 5th grade students doing differentiated instruction to help the students in science areas they are low in. The students get really excited when they get to use the iPads and learn through many of the interactive games we have. Again I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

  • Bouncing Balls for Bouncy Behavior!

    Funded Mar 9, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donation towards my donors choose project. My kids are definitely bouncing their way through this school year. Every morning the kids would come running in to try to claim one of the chairs for themselves, as it was a first come first serve basis. If the students didn't follow the rules the chair was taken away from them. The yoga ball chairs have helped my classroom tremendously, not only with my fidgety students, but as well as a behavior incentive. I appreciate all your help in this project, and know that it has made a huge impact in my class.”

  • Sensory Sensation

    Funded May 10, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous donations. This project was not necessarily a project that impacted a class but rather a school. For the past year my school has been working on a sensory garden for our students with special needs. As you can see by the picture the joy in their faces says it all. He students love playing on the drums and especially in the airplane teeter totter. They explore our miniature garden using their senses. Your donations have provided a great addition to outlet shool.”

  • Bouncing Chairs for Bouncing Behaviors

    Funded Mar 30, 2017

First off, thank you to all my donors for your donation. My kids were so excited to receive the yoga ball chairs. When they first heard the news they were all screaming of excitement. Another one of my students had one and the students would always sneak in his chair at some point whenever the student was at the computers or in the bathroom. They would constantly tell me how they wanted one too. Now that they have their own they are over joyed. It has also helped with the students remaining in their chairs, instead of their sporadic trips to the bathroom and sharpener. Sometimes its hard not to giggle seeing them all bounce like little moles popping out of the ground.”

  • Cozy Computer Center

    Funded Feb 28, 2017

Thank you so much for the bean bag chairs! My kids are going crazy over them. When they are not using them for computer time, I have been taking advantage of how much the kids love them, that I use it as well for good behavior. The students constantly ask me when they finish their work if they can sit on them and read. That is also a bonus because they are reading more on their own instead of me assigning reading time to them. The students tell me how soft and comfortable they are. It is so cute how they curl up in a ball as if they were in the comfort in their house and see them focused on whatever they are doing.”

  • Building our Brains with Books!

    Funded Nov 28, 2016

First off I would like to thank you for your generous donation. My kids have been super excited and enjoying some of the chapter books that was funded through this donors choose project.

Students in the second grade have just learned the basics of reading. Most of the books they tend to read are very basic with lots of pictures, stopping them from using their own imagination and visualizing a book. It's whats easy for them. When I was a fifth grade teacher I struggled so much to get my kids to even go to the library, they had no interest in chapter books. Now that I am in second grade I can see why. Everything they are exposed to even through our curriculum are books with lots of bright beautiful pictures again limiting them from using their imagination. The first book we read "Dinosaurs Before Dark" the kids absolutely loved. They could relate to the children because they love climbing up in tree houses and pretending like they were them in another land being chased down by dinosaurs. Now we have moved onto our next book "Freckle Juice" a story about a girl who wants freckles and the kids are enjoying it just as much.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Carrillo

Second grade is a huge transition for a child. They have a longer school day, and more intensified work. They jump from a focus of learning how to build words with all the different blends of letter sounds, to now the focus of learning being comprehension. Many of the students in my class have never been exposed to chapter books in first grade, and hardly have a chance to step into a library to be exposed to them. I plan on using the chapter books "Frankly Frannie", "The Magic Tree House", "Freckle Juice" and "Judy Moody" to not only build their vocabulary but also to start building a better understanding of reading. These chapter books would not be a replacement for the curriculum given to me but as an extension to my curriculum. There is no better way to increase knowledge in a child than reading a good book!
