  • Help MSTA Support Breast Cancer Awareness

    Funded Dec 17, 2024

    Thank you for the supplies. The students have been diligently working on creating cards to distribute at their next Breast Cancer Walk. With the supplies the students have begun a bold mission of making 3,000 cards and bracelets. The students are now volunteering to come to come up during their lunch time to work on creating cards and bracelets. They are super excited and looking forward to complete this mission.

    We could not have done this without your help. With your assistance I have been able to motivate the children. When the packages arrived they could not wait to open them. Once the packages were opened they began planning the next Breast Cancer Walk. The students have begun organizing the process of folding cards, putting on the stickers and making the bracelets. The excited chatter and the enthusiasm is heart-warming.

    Again we greatly appreciate the materials and the motivation it has created.”

    I would like to inform you that this project has been a rip roaring success. The students have been utilizing all. The materials have provided them with a sense of structured calm enabling them to return to their classrooms ready to learn. At this point they can independently utilize the materials and often forget what was upsetting them after taking time to refocus.

    I appreciate this greatly and the children are demonstrating an awareness that they can calm themselves down without external intervention giving them a sense of self pride and self awareness. Thanks a million. 😊”

  • Remote - Low Tech Learning While Engaged

I have seen a tremendous difference in the engagement and communication of my students which I can attribute significantly to the hands-on tasks they are able to participate in. Through the use of a variety of manipulatives, the children will get a chance to practice skills learned. Materials will be loaned to students for 2 weeks at a time (disinfected, sterilized, and sit for a week before being packaged and loaned out to another family). The activities shipped will coincide with speech and academic lessons being taught to them at the time. The students will then get the chance to practice the skills independently or with the help of the caregiver based on information being currently learned online live. During live discussions and or other communication tools with caregivers, strategies for incorporating discussions, learning opportunities, motivation, and behavior management through the use of the resources they received will be given. The materials will assist in the continued enhancement of the students' overall development and growth (primarily cognitive, fine motor, sensory, creativity, and their speech and language skills).
