Capture the World Cultural Insights with a Google Cardboard!

Funded Jan 25, 2019

On behalf of all the 89 students in our high school's Chinese programs, I sincerely thank you for your kind donation of these amazing Virtual Viewers (Google Cardboards)! I followed the guidance learned from Stanford University's World Languages Program in 2019, taking my students to download an app into their smartphones named Expeditions, and we went from there to work on a series of stunning breath-taken 3D pictures of some world famous historical sites to accompany our study of Chinese cultural attractions such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, as well as the well-known world famous sites such as the Christ Redeemer's Statue in Rio, the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, as well as the Sydney Opera House in Australia... For many of my students who had never had the chance to travel to these places, the learning tools you've kindly donated to our classes have brought in some experiences that many of these students had never felt and experienced before...

With the powerful assistance of these virtual viewers, all of the students seemed to have been fully engaged to follow my guidance to explore the amazing historical attractions and to carefully observe the details, feeling that such a small device had taken them to complete a real life trip to those far-away places that used to appear in their wild dreams, only...

Upon completing the cultural insight study by taking advantage of using these virtual viewers, on the one hand, my students were deeply impressed with all the splendid views they have seen in the viewers, and on the other hand, many of them were greatly touched by the kindness of our donors, indicating that they would remember this experience, and will do their best to do something similar to help some other students in need of help after they graduate and step into the society.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Ma
