The Battle of the Books encourages students to take part in reading as both a social and an individual activity. Readers and non-readers are encouraged to discuss books with peers and expand their knowledge of literary genres and new titles. By donating to our project, you will help students create a community of readers, build new friendships, and begin fostering a lifelong love of reading. At our school, Battle of the Books begins with up to 70 students participating in mini-book clubs, book-related activities, and team building games. The Battle of the Books program concludes in a competition or "battle" between teams of up to 7 students who have collectively read all 20 titles on a pre-selected list of books. During the battle, teams are asked questions about the books they have read.
