Grateful for the Fiesta Bowl Charities in funding this project for my students. My wish is for a classroom make over, specifically in the area of reading. I would like to create a reading environment full of leveled readers, organized library, reading rotation games and centers, reading interventions, writing station, and listening stations. For our classroom reading makeover, I have included some of the following items: front facing bookshelves (to display books at the kindergarten level), reading benches, comfy floor chairs, large reading rug (comfortable fun classroom library seating), magnetic/whiteboard easel (for displaying big books and creating words with magnets), various levels of books for all learners (kindergarten books through 2nd grade reading levels), phonics and spelling games, listening station headsets and books (for students to hear fluency and stories, then answer comprehension questions afterwards), etc... A literacy filled environment will help my students reach their Language Arts goals individually and in small reading groups. I would love to see a room filled with all aspects of reading and writing from letters, words, sentences, books, etc... My students learn best through hands on learning which is why I believe the more various modes of activities, the better they will learn to read.
