There is a wealth of videos, apps, games, programs and other content available for self-directed learning, specifically for English Language Learners as well as students performing below grade level. Most of these excellent resources need to be listened to. Most families have not been able to provide their child with a pair of headphones that stay in the classroom and can be used to listen and practice phonics or language developments. Sadly, the school's investments in these technologies and resources are wasted without headphones- audio that will not disrupt other's learning. These headphones will be used daily in intervention groups for students who need extra practice with phonics, reading fluency, or language development. They will also be valuable for students who are performing above grade level and need challenging, self-directed curriculum.
