Due to the poverty that our student’s face, they go hungry throughout the day and are embarrassed to say so. For many reasons, students do not get meals at home and are coming to school with nothing in their stomach. Students are expected to be successful in the classroom, however many of our students are unable to do so if they are hungry. Students are less equipped to meet their full potential. A quick nutritional snack such as a Chewy granola Bar, Nature Valley Oats 'n Honey Granola Bar, or a Pepperidge farm gold fish cracker can help to satisfy their hunger. Allowing our students to focus in the classroom. I would also like to use the Welch’s Fruit Snacks and Grandma's Cookie Variety Pack as an incentive for rewards and good attendance. 94% of our students qualify for free school breakfast and lunch. When a student walk through our school doors, the meals provided by the school may be the only food they have in their stomach. Some may come into my office, because they missed breakfast and have to wait hours for lunch, or possibly a student did not have enough food at home to even satisfy their hunger. I want to be able to meet the needs of my student’s so that they can be successful. By providing one snack at a time, I will be able to do just that. Small snacks will help keep them focused and provide energy. Please help!
