My students are 7th and 8th graders between the ages of 12 and 14 & have severe physical, health, & cognitive disabilities. Half of my students are wheelchair-bound and the other half have some form of autism. They are taught in a special education classroom (multiple disabilities support) because they have very specific needs that cannot be met in a general education classroom. About 90% of our day is spent working on life skills goals; because of their severe cognitive and/or physical delays, they have yet to learn some of the basic skills for living that most of us learned as small children. They are also being immersed in an international awareness curriculum, which they are being exposed to through international dishes & food preparation.
