We can't wait to share how this program impacts the students at our school. Look for picture and notes from our students as they tell you how this program helped them.
Thank you for all you do”

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose 20th Anniversary Fund and 7 other donors.PS 38 Goes to the Dogs!
Funded Oct 17, 2019PS 38 has truly gone to the dogs! When Comfort Dog Shelby came to our school you could feel the energy shift. Students and staff alike were more relaxed and excited about their day. Your generous donations have allowed us to have the materials and supplies needed to have an effective Comfort Dog program.
The impact Shelby has had is huge! She works one on one with a small group of students who are struggling either because of family issues or they have just arrived in this country and speak little to no English. All of the students play games with Shelby, building communication skills, developing problem solving skills and of course deepening their social emotional awareness.
Shelby also works with a small group of at-risk 1st graders on their literacy skills. We play games where Shelby picks vocabulary cards and the students have to think of sentences to share with the group (we use her raised bed and paw pods for this game). They are also eager to share when it is their turn to tell Shelby the story they wrote in class, and of course they just love to read to her.
We could not have gotten as far as we have without your generosity.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Regan
Storage Solutions...A Teachers Dream
Funded Nov 15, 2018The shelving you have enabled us to buy, has improved our classroom environment tremendously. The students are able to move freely around the room, gather the supplies they need as well as displaying their projects.
The students as well as other visitors into our STEM lab noticed right away that the materials that used to be piled on the floor were up on the shelves in a neat order. The students love that they can see what materials they need and get them easily.
We have one more shelf to put up and then we can organize the LEGOS for the LEGO robotics units the students will start in the spring. This too will foster independence in that students will have access to materials as they are needed to create, design and build their codable robots.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Regan
