  • We're Poppin' in Proficiency

    Funded Jan 11, 2024

I just wanted to take a minute and say a huge thank you for your generous donation. Being a Title I school, we are so thankful when our community helps out by supporting our needs. With the money donated, we were able to buy snacks for our students. These snacks were given out in various celebrational activities. For example, we were able to host a celebration for those students that improved their test scores from the September to January. We also celebrated those students that made one or more grade level progress throughout the year. We rented bounce houses and provided snacks. This would not be possible without you!

Thank you for your generous donation and for partnering with us to make our kids feel special!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Daceus

  • Growing in Kindness and Service

    Funded Oct 19, 2023

I just wanted to thank you for your generosity! With your donation, we were able to buy the claw, reaching tools for our students! I know this seems like a small thing, but it was a need and you helped fulfill it.

Our goal at our school is to keep our school nice and clean. Well, you know children. As they come out of the bathroom, many hope to be Shaq with dunking the paper towel in the trashcan and a few miss that goal. Of course, no one ones to clean up after themselves and swear that it wasn't them that missed. Having these reaching tools, helps make something so simple, fun again.

We also have a large PE field where much of the neighborhood trash collects as it blows through the fence, so having this tool will again make things easier and more fun for the students. Our goal is for them to see serving as a joy and an opportunity for them to serve their community in a small way. And also to see that small tasks done daily really make large changes. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Daceus

  • Caldecott Bucket List

    Funded Dec 15, 2021

I just wanted to take a minute and thank you for your kind donation for our classroom! We were so excited to see this project completely funded.

As many of you who have traveled with me on my journey this year are aware, this is my first year as the Media Specialist here at our school. With that I am trying to excite students about learning and secondly get books in their hands.

With your contribution we are doing just that! We have been so excited to be using the Accelerated Reader program in our school! It has been having kids read like never before. As you know they are working towards earning their Reading Ninja Belts! We have some students who have attained Black Belt status. My next challenge for them will read through the Caldecott books and join with me in my bucket list of things to do...read through the list of Caldecott books! This is such a great start!

Thank you again for your help in purchasing these books for us!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Daceus

  • We AR Reading Nerds

    Funded Sep 18, 2021

Just wanted to again thank you so much for your generous donation! Because of your donation, we were able to buy these tablets. We are going to be using these along with our Accelerated Reader program that we bought in order for students to take a short comprehension test on the books that they have read.

As we look toward increasing our students' love for reading these tablets helps us incentivize and excite students towards reading. As students complete books, they use the tablet and take an Accelerated Reader (AR) comprehension tests, and kids receive points on completion. They use these points to purchase a brag tag that has the same colors of the karate belts. We have students working hard and teachers that are encouraging students in the process as they work towards their white, yellow, orange...all the way up to their black belts!

Again, thank you so much for your generous donation! It is with your help that we serve our students and get them excited about reading and reaching their goals! Thankful for you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Daceus

  • We AR Reading Ninjas

    Funded May 27, 2021

With technology being so prevalent in our schools today and each student having a computer, headsets are a necessity. However, most of our students have not been provided with a headset. Your generous donation of headsets to our school has been an amazing blessing! Teachers have come to me as the Media Specialist and asked if we have any headsets that students might use. Thankfully I am able to answer them with a joyful, "Yes!" And that is because of your generosity!

Now, a side benefit of these beautiful headsets, is that they came wrapped in bubble wrap and since the bubble wrap is not a necessity to keep the headsets protected, we used this beautiful bubble wrap to give to our teachers to be silly and take away their stress! Two for the price of one!

From the deepest part of my heart, I thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Daceus

  • Media Center Makeover

    Funded Jun 22, 2021

I just want to say a huge thank you for your support! It has been so fun seeing the teachers come in to the Media Center and do a double take as they look at the wall and see these beautiful hanging shelves that we were able to put up this summer. The frames are ready and waiting to showcase our Florida City Elementary authors and illustrators!

I must admit one of my favorite purchases with your donations is the garment rack. You know how kids just throw their clothes on the ground, well that is what happened with our News Crew shirts at the end of the broadcast. Now it makes me happy to have this extra step of organization!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Daceus

Technology is either our best friend or our worst enemy! I want my students to think of it as their best friend. I want them to be prepared for all that they can do through technology! This summer, I went to the best PD ever! I found out all about how to get my students excited about computer science through a website called Code.org. I'm seeking to get some extra computers that are more updated than what we have in my school right now so that I can use it in our afterschool coding and robotics club! We are looking to have the students obtain experience in the field of coding so that we might add to their confidence and interest in coding type projects for their future careers.
