Where there is a spark, there is a fire. With the help of Kindle Fires, I hope to do that with my students each and every day. I have little technology currently in my classroom, we share iPads with other classrooms in our building. At the most, we can have two iPads a day. Most of my students come from homes in which internet access and technology of any sort is minimal. Most of my students do not have access to newer books that are more engaged for the reader. Most of my students are reading books that were published years previously. With the technology, students will be able to get online on the different free websites and read books that are more engaging and on their level. Most of my students love to read with Epic Books and Story Book Online. For those struggling readers, there are options on the website that the students can have the book read to them. This does help those struggling readers to become more fluent and understand the text in a better way. The Kindle Fires will also put a fire in Mathematics. Currently in my classroom there is not any technology to be used with Mathematics. With the Kindles, students will be able to do flashcards online and play mathematic games to enhance their math skills. I think that this will be a great enhancement for those students who are embarrassed to practice with their peers for the simple fact of not knowing the answers. Also too with the technology, students can look for examples and way that other students are learning how to work similar problems for a better understanding.
