I Need To Be Comfy to Learn!
Funded Oct 31, 2024The foundation of my own pedagogy in education relies on student-centered learning and personalized learning. This means, I really want to allow my scholars to have a say in how they sit, where they sit, and what they sit in or on during their learning. I believe it further allows them be more accountable for their learning as they engage in activities and tasks in a more comfortable way in that moment. Flexible seating is about providing options, but it also about promoting voice and choice. That is exactly what this project did for our classroom.
My co-teacher and I engage in parallel teaching throughout the day. The stools are useful for my small groups at the guided table where I conduct my mini lessons. The stools are meant to promote sensory input and in turn motivation. The cushions are used on the floor when students are asked to join the meeting area. They promote collaboration for our scholars to be easily paired up or work in groups and even comfort so that they wont have to sit flat on the ground. Overall, this project is allowing our scholars to build community as they learn to share and take turns using the items that are accessible.
It always an amazing feeling when a project is fully funded and received. It is an even better feeling to witness how it impacts my scholars.”

Printing In A Flash Like Magic!
Funded Apr 4, 2024I am always truly appreciative of items that are sponsored for my classroom. Our classroom was lacking a printer that allowed myself to make acitivties and modifications to work tasks more accessible. Many times I would have to put in printing requests with my school's main office, which could take days before actuaslly printing due to other teachers requesting copies as well. I found myself using my home printer more because I wanted my copies to made quickly and more effeicently.
Now with your help, I am able to promote more differentiation within my task worksheets and print them out more efficiently for my scholars to use. Moreso, I am happy that through the inclusion of ink for the print, I may print in color and add more scaffolding to my tasks. Color definitely makes the world of difference within a ICT classroom, because I can highlight important words and even add pictures for my sturggling readers. My scholars were truly greatful and I am too!”

Brillance In Color!
Funded Nov 29, 2023Upon opening our donations, the kids were extremely estactic. They were happy to have recieved materials that would not only help them express themselves further, but materials that will also allow them to add details to their work. As an ICT Sped Teacher, I am faced with students that are on variety of academic levels, and needs. Through some of the materials provided, I was able to ask scholars who didn't have strong writing skills to develop scenes for their thinking. This allowed them to further explain their thoughts so that we may be able to then write them down.
Within the ICT class, we are constantly in groups. My scholars were happy to know that with an addition board within the classroom, the small groups became more explicit through the teacher's models. Scholars are able to use their own expo markers paied with erasers to stay engrossed in their learning.”
