Our struggle is that because we are a small school, there is limited recess supplies to began with. It is difficult to justify taking recess equipment away from the larger regular recess group to give to a smaller group of students. Availability of items is dependent on what the P.E. and recess groups aren't using. Currently, in our possession, the Structured Recess group has a single kickball (which recently developed a leak), some sidewalk chalk, and two batons (which we use for a version of capture the flag.) We need more equipment that we have access to on a regular basis. We would use the flag football set not only to play flag football, but we could also play "Capture the Flag" and other versions of tag. Basketballs would be used to teach the team aspect of the game, but also individual games such as "Horse" and "Lightning." Many students have never even heard of "Bocce Ball," which could be a game they enjoy all life-long. The kickball would be used to replace our leaking one, so students can enjoy kickball and "Four-Square." Lastly, the students absolutely love playing dodgeball and versions of it, but oftentimes the dodge balls are in use by the regular recess and P.E. classes. In conclusion, I would also like to point out that while I only have 12 students at a time, who is in the group changes on a daily basis. Therefore, this project reaches far more than 12 students.
