All too often, school-aged percussionists face the exhausting challenge of trying to play their parts in music without the correct equipment. Having to substitute instruments to fill in the sounds is never quite satisfactory. These percussion students are challenging themselves to play difficult band, orchestra, and percussion ensemble pieces, but the pieces often call for instruments that we do not have in our inventory. The crotales have a very unique sound and are required in multiple different pieces that these students are learning or will learn. It is hard to replace the sound of crotales with substitute instruments; this takes away from the essence of the music. Furthermore, when instruments are missing, the students miss out on the opportunity to learn the playing techniques for that particular aspect of percussion. I do not want my students to have to miss out on the opportunity to learn how to play crotales, especially since this instrument introduces bowing, a challenging, fun, and reward technique for percussion students to learn. These students are working really hard to learn challenging pieces and would love the opportunity to play the parts on the correct instrument and to learn new techniques. Please help me enhance the experience and musical performance of these students by providing them with these crotales.
