Sequoyah Reading

Funded Oct 30, 2019

Only two days after the books were shelved and they were all checked out. Students were putting several books on hold because they were excited to read them. I can not keep these new books on the shelves. They are eagerly reading them, then the students would tell their friends and get the other students interested in reading them.

These books are part of a statewide book award contest. Being able to read them makes them feel like they are part of something bigger. We live in a small rural town with the closest city being quite small itself. This opportunity to read these books and vote in the spring makes them feel like they are important. They feel their opinion matters.

The students were so excited when I told them that some great donors bought these books for us. Our library is supported by donations only and the students are so happy when they see a delivery getting made.”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Rich
