  • Read All About It

    Funded Mar 6, 2020

Well this has been quite a year but I'm looking forward to getting back to teaching this fall. With these, now, digital resources from Junior Scholastic I can engage my students about current events ranging from the obvious to the obscure. As the summer comes to an end I am planning on using these resources biweekly allowing our students to learn either from home or in person depending on how circumstances unfold. Thank you again for your generous investments in our classroom and I hope to get back to learning in the best and most efficient way possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Sexton

  • European Vacation

    Funded Feb 25, 2020

I would like to thank you for your contribution to our classroom. We were able to complete the project side of this before quarantine. I was hoping to come back to school this year and have students create their cards but alas that was not to be.

We ended up using the travel guides to make both travel brochures for European countries as well as create individual post cards. After showing them how to use the travel guides I was impressed with how quickly they picked them up and were able to navigate the different sections. The Survival Guides in the back were especially helpful in identifying things like police cars, types of currency, and even what ATM's look like. Students gave a brief description of their selected country and then found two locations they thought were interesting enough to travel to.

So once again I thank you for adding significantly to our classroom library with such an invaluable resource that I can use for years to come. Our students truly loved them.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Sexton

As it stands our current whiteboard seems incapable of erasing once marked on. In fact several notations made last year are still visible through gallons of whiteboard cleaners and elbow grease. The Quintet White Board would allow students again to mark up visuals from our projector and actively annotate directly on the board again. Along with the color packs of Expo Markers we can create colorful illustrations on the side of the board related to current topics I encourage students to create content specific graffiti related to terms and vocabulary. Our old boards either wouldn't take markers or wouldn't erase making them virtually useless. The Quintet board and Expo marker packs will revive our worn out boards and make learning visible as well as interactive for our students.
