Our students need these Chromebooks to help complete a class set to be shared amongst all of the science teachers at our school. This will allow us to more efficiently utilize the technology we already have in the classroom and improve our students' overall independent learning. These Chromebooks will be used almost daily and in all of our science classrooms. All students have Google Apps for Education accounts. One example of how these will be utilized is to share data from each table with the class to perform better analysis of labs. Computer generated graphs created from that data are skills they will acquire and carry on into every science class and most careers that they may enter in the future. Collaborative projects, high level research, and access to online review sessions would all be possible if this project becomes funded. Becoming closer to a 1 to 1 ratio at school also opens up the opportunities for interactive online notebooks. Technology integration, true daily integration, can only be achieved through consistent access with more Chromebooks in the classroom. I hope to facilitate learning for independent, creative, critical thinkers, and hope to open new worlds through visual and up-to-the-minute research access. This can create scientists for the future who are prepared with 21st century skills and a passion for incorporating that in their everyday approach to life. Last year, the Chromebooks were an indispensable tool in the classroom, and I am hoping to increase the number available to make it easier for all students to work both independently and collaboratively.
