  • ABC Adventure Quest!

    Funded Dec 30, 2024

Thank you so very much for your kindness and support.

Thanks to you, our class "ABC Adventure Quest!" is a success. My students were very excited! We have been exploring the Alphabet using different tools and my students have enjoyed the Alphabet centers very much. We used playdough mats to shape letters and review their sounds. We used letter beads to lace the alphabet and our names. For those who have mastered letters and their sounds, they have moved on to reading, shaping and tracing sight words and cvc. The tools you have provided for us have made learning fun and meaningful. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Monat-Dejesus

  • Learn Through Sensory Play!

    Funded Oct 10, 2024

Thank you so very much for your generous donations to our class. Learning through sensory play is our favorite part of our learning day. When my students started using these tools, they were all beginners; most were curious and others frustrated. As the pictures will show, they are doing great, having fun and learning at their own pace; which was my main goal as their teacher.

At the beginning of the year, they all struggled with writing letters and their names; coloring and tracing were not easy tasks; I incorporated Learning through Sensory Play as a fun and relaxing way to help them develop their fine motor skills. We use playdough in many ways, they learned to squeeze and roll it into words and shapes. Lacing was tricky but their efforts reflect their diverse personalities. We used squishy balls as fun tools to help us decompress, breathe in and out when we need a break and even counting tools during math class. Playing with the blue connecting sand, takes us back to summer time at the beach. We enjoyed squeezing it and using different tools to play with the connecting sand. We had fun practicing letter recognition with letter lacing beads. My little learners' fine motor skills are improving every day and we are excited to see the fruition of their hard work.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Monat-Dejesus

  • Social Emotional Learning!

    Funded Oct 9, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our class, we are forever grateful!

It's been a long road but thanks to your support my little learners have learned to settle down and some it is still a process, surely but slowly they will all get there. They always look forward to our Social Emotional reading time! Through these books, we have learned many strategies such as deep breathing, listening to ourselves and others even when we are upset as well as many social cues that make us better friends.

The books have helped us understand that everybody gets mad or sad and that it is okay to have those feelings. Our social emotional books are part of our daily routine. Books like "Little Lion Shares" have made a difference in understanding the importance of sharing throughout the day but mostly during play time. "Just Breathe Bear" allowed us to visualize and practice deep breathing as a strategy to help us calm down when we feel upset. "Little Dinos Don't Bite" taught us to not bite others but different food! We have fun learning to develop our social emotional skills as we grow this school year.

    Thank you so very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Monat-Dejesus

  • Daily Living Skills

    Funded Sep 21, 2021

our students are making progress in their toileting training. Your donations have made it easy for them to use the toilet on their own and helped ease their anxiety.

The pants were super helpful as they made it easy for the kids to use the bathroom. Students were able pull their pants up and down independently. They were no longer frustrated by the process of buttoning and unbuttoning.

The underwears and socks were needed as students were reminded that if they had an accident, they could easily change. Slowly but surely our scholars are meeting this goal.

We thank you so very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Monat-Dejesus

These sweet boys and girls are still in diapers or pullups. They need the gears necessary to ensure that potty training is going to be a success. These items will allow students to be physically comfortable while learning to use the toilets. They will allow teachers to provide an hygienic environment while teaching students this fundamental Daily Living Skill. Although their special needs make it challenging to process and learn- We want all our scholars to be potty trained and ready for First grade. With your support, we believe they can do it!
