  • 3D Exploration Into Math

    Funded May 24, 2024

Thank you so much for helping to enrich my students learning by helping to provide them with these items. These items will go a long way to show them how abstract math concepts shape the world they live in. Your contribution will help my students see a future in STEM careers and other possibilities. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Baines

  • Classroom Resources for Khan Academy Usage

    Funded Dec 21, 2023

Thank you so much for making this happen! None of this could have happened without your support. As a classroom Teacher, I am seeing a lot of students who are behind in their math skills and they are not performing at the level that the curriculum assumes they should be at.

The items that you helped to purchase such as the headphones and the cable adapters have gone a long way to help my students study math skills that they are lacking by using the Khan Academy website. The students have been more confident to work on lessons that are below their grade level because the headphones allow them to hear the onscreen Teacher without giving away what they are learning.

The laminator has allowed me to add anchor charts for current lessons as well as math facts to the classroom walls to remind students of key concepts. The power strips have extended the number of available outlets in the classroom to keep student's devices charged so they can continue to work on lessons.

Thank you again for your gift to the students. They are greatly appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Baines

  • Creative Expression for All

    Funded Feb 3, 2024

Wooo hooo! Thank you, thank you for your donation to my classroom. My students will be so uplifted knowing that they can express their feelings and emotions the way they want to without being judged and hindered in anyway. The recent weather has been and continues to be a source of angst for my students but your donation is helping to alleviate some of that.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Baines

  • Fostering Memories of Math

    Funded Feb 10, 2022

Thank you so much again for giving to our class memory keeping project. Memory keeping is important in trying to foster the necessary cumulative learning that students need to maintain from year to year to better retain math knowledge gained.

Students are using their personal cell phones to take pictures of completed example problems then they use the Kodak Dock and Printer to print the photos and add them to their notebooks. This will help aid in students remembering the steps to solve complicated problems.

The new school year has brought about new math club members who are eagerly coming up with ideas using iron-on transfers to decorate and personalize t-shirts and fabric notebook covers. The Cricut Easy Press 2 will help to make sure that the iron-on transfers will stick permanently.”

  • Safe Drinking Water for All

    Funded Sep 14, 2022

Thank you! Thank you! again for giving my students reliable access to clean, filtered drinking water. This would never have happened without you. My students have been using the Avalon water dispenser daily. The 5 gallon jug included in your donation has already been refilled twice since the inception of the Avalon water dispenser.

The 4 oz cups included with your donation has had a great impact in allowing the students not to waste full bottles of water when they only required a few sips.

The water crisis here in Jackson has been troubling and it is not over yet. The boil water notices are still a factor of living here. This filtered water system has given students peace of mind knowing the water they are drinking is safe.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Baines

  • Socially Distanced Personalization

    Funded Nov 22, 2021

Thank you, thank you so much for the contributions you made towards the purchase of the items for my classroom. My students are excited to see the Cricut cutting machine in action and are very proud to see their designs come to life with just the touch of a button.

The students have added the vinyl cutouts that they created using the Cricut to their notebooks, bookbags, and water bottles. Of course the vinyl pages came with the donations that you contributed.

Coming up in class, the students will create envelope type study booklets to keep track of what they have learned in previous units. The envelopes will be easy to create with the Cricut because it has so many different designs in that area.

Again, thank you for your donations. it has mean't the world to my students and I.”

  • A Digital World View

    Funded Dec 18, 2020

Thank you all so much for making this happen! Virtual learning is now the normal for us and is more doable for this fall and spring semesters with what you have given to my students and I for use with our classroom activities. I believe that this will be the main way to reach out to the students moving forward for the rest of the school year.

With this technology, I will be better able to relate to my students with a more natural progression in our lessons just as if we were in the same space. Students who are absent or who just need to hear what happened in class again, will be able to access recorded lessons of me actually working out and solving problems.

Thank you again for your gift to the students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Baines

  • A Better Digital View

    Funded Aug 2, 2020

Thank you all so much for making this happen! Virtual learning is now the normal for us and is more doable for this fall and spring semesters with what you have given to my students and I for use with our classroom activities.

With this technology, I have been able to better relate to my students with a more natural progression in our lessons just as if we were in the same space. The students are able to see my hand movements in real time. Before, I had been using Microsoft PowerPoint for visual displays, but that can never be a replacement for the literal hands on learning my students experience seeing me work out math problems.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Baines

  • Access to Technology for All

    Funded May 11, 2019

Thank you so much again for your generous donations. The donations were used to buy computers for my students to do online assignments. By having online assignments, students are able to see their grade immediately without having to wait for me to grade a paper based assignment.

My students have also used the computers to do research for required projects and presentations that they make in front of the class. The students got very giddy when they saw the computers for the first time and now they excitedly ask to use them because they know that they are available for them to use.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Baines

Having these computers in the classroom will allow students without cell phones or access to computers at home to be able to complete their assignments. I use online assignments to make it convenient for students to complete their work on the go. For those who do not have access to cell phones or computers at home, there are a limited number of working computers available to students in the Library. Unfortunately, all the computers in the Library are usually occupied by students the Librarian has to watch because of a lack of substitute teachers. Sometimes the computers are already reserved by Teachers who bring their whole class to the Library.
