My students are all at-risk students in Boston. Our school day is an extended learning day school, going from 7:15am-3:15 pm. Students are provided breakfast and lunch, however, many families are unable to afford a snack to send with their student. Our lunch is not until 12:30, therefore students are going for for hours without food. This causes them to be hungry and tired, and therefore unable to focus on their work or the learning that is happening. A small snack will be very beneficial in their learning as it will help them be full, give them energy, and allow them to focus on their learning.
