These materials will allow students access to a variety of books developing a love of reading. I strongly agree with James Patterson who said, “There's no such thing as a kid who hates reading. There are kids who love reading, and kids who are reading the wrong books.” Please help me provide books to students in my classroom that I KNOW will engage them and inspire a desire to read more. Books like Hey Jack! allow struggling readers to participate in chapter books, Notebook of Doom (Branches) incorporate picture books with chapters and provide a smooth transition into chapter books, while Diary of a Wimpy Kid keeps higher students coming back for more.
