Many of my students transition to high school with poor organizational skills. And, to make matters worse they often lack the tools to help them get organized. I've seen students, when given those tools, really take off. Not only do they keep track of their materials, but they engage more. And, then their attitude improves right along with their grades. I've seen a link between the added assistance in their organizational skills and their social emotional learning. Students who receive these tools feel respected but also understood. Then they feel comfortable to engage in discussions about their learning and their role in their own education.
