My 12 students have different cognitive levels, different learning needs, and individualized educational plans (IEP). When I teach them lessons to reach their IEP, I always need to do scaffolding, differentiation, some accommodation, and/or modifications. Students need time and opportunities for real-life applications. I have identified the skills and applications that most of my students need in their everyday life. These skills and concepts can build up through the use of work stations which they can rotate based on schedules as assigned. My project is to create these Math Work stations using the materials requested in this project. An iPad is the biggest request. The Math Stations will enable students to practice their skills at their own pacing and will give them the opportunity to have ownership of their learning. Project materials are money puzzles, time activity mats, and an addition and measurement activity kit. Each station will have specific task cards and a checklist for students to follow and work on. There will be variations of activities that students can connect to make use of in real-world situations. Staff will be assigned to monitor movements to ensure proper use so that goals can be met. Students will follow schedules given and mainly focus on gaining functional skills, developing independence, and organizational skills.
