Amazing Adjectives
Funded Oct 20, 2010Just saying 'Thank You' isn't enough to show my gratitude for your generous donations to my classroom. The art supplies and books that you donated to the classroom have made a huge impact on the children. Students got their first opportunity to paint when listening to Mozart and painting how they felt with no guidelines. They learned how to use a paintbrush, along with learning about the color wheel. Students were able to experience with colors and with the paint brush without worrying about making mistakes. They also had the opportunity to learn about Mozart and then do a writing piece about how the music made them feel. I had two students that were absent one of the days we worked with the paint, and both students asked to stay in for recess and lunch because they wanted to stay in and do the activity the students did the previous day (this doesn't happen when students just have a writing project, but since it also involved paint they were excited to do it).
Students are looking forward to doing a painting like Picasso, Dali, O'Keeffe, ext. Students are already on their way to painting Picasso. We have started their brain search and will move to reading a biography and then talking about his artwork. Students will then get the opportunity to do their own Picasso artwork!
Our school is facing budget problems and without your help these students would have never had the opportunity to paint. Some students found their love of painting and ask to do it everyday! Without donors like you students would have not had the opportunity to get this awesome experience!
