  • Distance Learning Hands on Materials in Preschool

    Funded Oct 18, 2020

Thank you so much for your donations! They have made a huge impact in our classroom! It was so great to be able to get materials out to families in our distance learning class. It has been wonderful to give students more opportunities for engagement and interaction on our zoom meetings together!

I have seen students make so much improvement over the last few weeks with their emergent writing skills and working on writing their names, as well as letter and number identification .

We often include the use of these materials in our home activities for parents to utilize as well!

We hope to continue to use these materials in this last quarter of school to keep student engagement and participation high!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Brittany

  • Pro-Social Skills Games

    Funded Nov 16, 2018

My students were SO excited to see all the new games for our classroom! Our package came right before our Winter Break so we wrapped our packages and opened the class present all together! The students loved it!

These games have had a huge impact working on many pro-social skills such as turn taking, using their language with their peers, working on waiting patiently, as well as how to be a good sport!

We encourage students to be a "Caring Cub" when a friend wins or looses and cheer them on or telling them "Great Job!" when they win!

We have seen huge improvements in the students' language with each other in other areas of their play as well from practicing these skills in a structured way with these games.

We have also seen huge improvements in the classroom climate and notice that students are Caring Cubs throughout the day to encourage and cheer on their friend.

Thank you all for all your support with this project! We look forward to continuing to use these games throughout the year and for years to come!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Brittany

Play and social emotional development are instrumental areas of focus in preschool. Play is a child's work. However, for some students, play and language skills may not come naturally. These simple games will help excite and engage my students to work on skills such as turn taking, waiting their turn and using their language as they navigate utilizing pro-social skills. Play and language development often go hand in hand, so incorporating fun play activities to help students work on these skills will help their development in all areas! These games will be used to small group pull out sessions utilizing one peer as a model and a few students who are still working on these skills. In this structured type of activity children begin to develop and understanding the appropriate way to wait and take turns, request a turn, interact and engage with peers and work on develop pro-social language and skills.
