Working Instruments = Working Minds!
Funded Nov 15, 2018Since receiving our new classroom materials, my students have had working minds! With a new repair kit, my students have had access to many more instruments. With new batteries, students were finally able to access our keyboards! The maintenance of instruments is pretty high, so this repair kit has halted the delay of student learning in music. With readily available materials for instrument repair, students have been able to stay engaged in learning.
My students were ecstatic, but also relieved when they received materials. Before repair materials, students would easily get frustrated when their instrument did not work. Now, I am able to fix instruments on the spot and in my free time to make sure students always have something to work with.
As the end of the school year approaches, we are working on our own personal music goals in class. Additionally, students are with me all day trying to restore our instrument closet for the future of the music program at our school. We are inspiring each other and pushing forward to a potentially amazing program. None of the learning, uplifting, and fun would be possible without the donors of this project. We thank you!”

Essentials for Modern Band
Funded Nov 12, 2018Since receiving our new classroom materials, my students have been engaged in drumming and guitar playing all school year! With new drumsticks, my students learned the fundamentals of rhythm through Bucket Drumming. After mastering rhythm, students were able to choose between guitar, piano or drums. Guitarists have been using capos once they mastered the Little Kids Rock chord charts to play in original song keys. Drummers learned beginner technique on drum pads, before 'graduating' to playing snare drum and drum set. Students have been growing their musicianship skills because of your generous donations.
My students were ecstatic, but also relieved when they received materials. They were struggling to share and were not engaged before our new materials arrived. They were literally jumping for joy when they found out they would have their own materials to work with in class! My more advanced students were especially happy to receive capos and individual materials so they could continue learning at their own pace.
As the end of the school year approaches, we are working on our ensemble skills while learning to play individual instruments. Our goal is to be able to play Little Kids Rock tunes as a group! They are almost there, but never would have been close without your generosity.”
With gratitude,
