  • Tools That Can Help Us Succeed and Look Cool

    Funded Feb 3, 2024

I wanted to express our heartfelt thanks for your generous donation of headphones and a whiteboard. Your contribution is greatly appreciated and will significantly enhance the learning experience for our students. The new headphones will allow our students to engage more effectively in their individual studies, while the whiteboard will serve as a crucial tool for interactive lessons and group activities.

Your support means so much to us, and we are truly grateful for your commitment to our mission. Your generosity is making a tangible difference in our community, and we can't thank you enough for your kindness.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Morikis

  • Seat Sack Savvy! Enhancing Classroom Organization and Efficiency

    Funded Sep 7, 2023

We appreciate your support! The additional storage has proven invaluable, enabling us to maintain order and tidiness. Students now have designated space for their math books, math note-taking notebooks, and addition notebooks, facilitating problem-solving. Numerous teachers have praised our level of organization, recognizing the positive impact it has on the learning environment. This enhanced organization not only contributes to the overall aesthetic but also fosters a conducive atmosphere for student learning.”

  • Opening the World Around Them With Literacy!

    Funded Jul 26, 2023

Words can't describe how incredibly lucky we are that you supported us. Thank you for allowing us to read and learn about the world. We use Scholastic Magazine during center time. Students read and talk about the material within their group. Students can't wait to go to that particular center. Parent learned about this project during open house and were amazed by the generosity of you all. Keep making that difference, and we will definitely pay it forward! Once again a big THANK You to all of you.”

  • No Time Like the Present to Explore Time for Kids

    Funded Oct 21, 2021

Thank you so much for your donations!!! Students used the Time For Kids in their reading centers. One of the articles read was Crisis in Ukraine. Students were inspired by how the world responded with donations for the refugees. We decided that Bunker Hill should also get involved. The fourth grade team decided to collect Pennies for Peace and to donate all proceeds collected. It turned out that the whole school wanted to take part. Being an inner city school, and not having much, students raised $1,700 worth of change. A simple Time For Kids article that you donated inspired the students to give back and for that we are grateful. Thank you for all that you do, you all rock❤️!”

  • What is Happening Around Us, and Exploring the USA

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

Thank you for all that you have done. Presently, we are full remote. My students sign on every day to learn, while I teach from an empty classroom. The digital Time For Kids subscription is a big hit. Students are able to access nonfiction articles and keep current with what is happening around them. Also, thank you for allowing us to connect with other 4th graders around the United States. We mailed out over 100 postcards from Connecticut thanks to you. Students are also excited when we receive one from different states. Keep doing what you do, your generosity has touched many in our class and many around the United States.❤️”

  • Playing Games Makes Us Use Our Brains

    Funded Dec 26, 2018

Thank you so much for funding our project. Thanks to you my students are having a great time learning in their math centers. The board games are awesome, and the best thing is students are very motivated to play. These kids are very competitive and want to win. In order to win they need to have the right math skills. I even over heard a student say that he practiced a skill the night before in order to beat his friend. So far they know how to play 3 out of the 7 games. We have another 80 days to learn the other 4. Thank you for supporting our class and making this class very happy!!! Keep doing what your doing, you're truly making a difference!!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Morikis

The students in my classroom rotate from math center to math center as I work with a small group. I want the student's rotation to be engaging, fun, yet educational. These games will allow students to use math strategies taught in fourth grade. Your donation will allow students to work together using a competitive math board game. Math Climb is a beautiful mathematical game where students are exposed to prime numbers, factors, and common multiples. They can add, subtract, multiply or divided to climb to the top. I love the mental math aspect of this game and highly recommend it for your own family. In Place Value Mystery, students solve place value problems to move through the house. They write each answer on their white board, checking their answers with a mystery decoder (awesome right?!). ATM Action and Allowance board games help students think money. They use money skills to help the track their finances. Think of the anticipation and excitement you felt while playing games with your friends and family. Lets expose my fourth graders to these certain types of games so they can share that same excitement. These centers might encourage the students to buy some board games at home instead of electronics!
