One of the best ways to help kids with special needs academically is to help manage behaviors. Rewarding kids with an outlet to perform their problem behaviors in an acceptable manner is key to helping them control their behaviors during our learning time. For this project I have requested the following items with the following intent: A Crash Pad will be used for my students who like to run and jump on things. A Trampoline is needed for the students who like jump on top of furniture and cabinets. The Kinetic Sand and Sand toys are desired to add to the handful of sensory buckets I already have. Some of the students who like sense of touch LOVE sensory buckets where they feel things like water beads, beans and rice. I want to add kinetic sand to my existing buckets. The Scooter Boards will be one of the things my students will be most excited about. Many of them love to spin around on my teacher chair and they would love using these boards. Rubber bands for chairs are great for the fidgety students who like to bounce their legs on the floor. The bands create a nice push back and it always seems to help calm students down. The light boxes and translucent pattern blocks , liquid motion bubblers, and newton cradle are for students with visual sensory needs. I have a lot of students who love to stare and gaze at items.
