STEM Opportunities for Students
Funded Aug 15, 2024My students are thoroughly enjoying our STEM magazines! Science is always a favorite of our students, and these magazines offer bite size articles that are of high interest to them! Because of the length of each article, students of all ability levels are able to access the materials.
In addition, the magazine has quick, fun, engaging activities. Some require little to no prep, and they are able to do them at school. Others have more required supplies, but they can take their magazine home and complete the activities there!
The students loved getting the magazines, but also, some took them home right away, and others left them at school to peruse over time. Since it was full of articles, many kids came to show me a fact from their 'favorite' article. I am so grateful that it has something for everyone. We very much appreciate the extended opportunity that your donation has made to our classroom.”

Funded Aug 10, 2022Thank you for your generosity with our project for playground materials! To say that they are a HUGE hit is an understatement ( and not with just our class, but the other 4th grade class and both 3rd grade class). They are well used every single day. The materials bag has been a huge help with management of the materials, and the students have become very adept at counting them and being responsible. Plus, they are working together to sort out rules for all different sorts of games, some which we know, and some that they have created themselves!
Again, none of this would be possible without your help! I have even more to be thankful about during this season of gratefulness.”

Funded Nov 30, 2021Thank you again for your generosity and helping getting us more computers in our classroom. We are currently using them to do research projects on inventors and inventions and publishing a book! My students are grateful to have more access to the internet which allows them to pursue interests when they are most interested compared to waiting on limited devices. Other students are working on individualized classwork and are grateful to be challenged each day. They get a lot of use EVERY day.
Our goal is to have enough units to play review games such as kahoot! or blooket which require 1:1 devices. I sincerely thank you for your help....”

Funded Nov 23, 2020Having additional computers in class has allowed us to individualize our math program and allow our students to fast track their own learning pace. Some of my students have achieved 1.5 - 2x the learning that they would have achieved in a normal year! With gifted learners, this has allowed some students the ability to move forward more quickly with online curriculum, while I am able to spend additional time helping other students. It is ideal that students are able to feel challenged each and every day in a way that makes them feel successful.
The students are excited to use our new, additional chromebooks in the classroom. We are able to collaborate electronically and do research in a distanced manner. We were able to do a community service project that allowed us to research, create, advertise and sell projects online. This would have been much more difficult with less computers in the classroom.
The students are also able to use the computers in off times when they have completed their tasks to work on 'passion projects'. This is guided by their interests and increases motivation to do research and create projects demonstrating knowledge. Some students are inspired to create digital projects that would not be possible without additional computers. We cannot thank you enough for donating to our projects!”

Funded Dec 4, 2019I just wanted to express my thanks for helping me fund this project. I used the materials recently for a GLOW games day and received many emails from parents of students who came home saying that it was the BEST day ever! I also received a handwritten letter from my superintendent who was encouraged to see so many smiling faces leave after a day of fun.
The kids literally were screaming with excitement when they came in! They were anxious to get started . The kids were thrilled to write with highlighters and never argued once about doing math worksheets ( as long as it was dark!) They asked for several days after if they could learn like this every day.
I am thrilled to have these resources in my back pocket to keep reviewing fun and engaging as we approach testing season which tends to see a spike in rough attitudes, stress and anxiety. Thank you again for supporting classrooms like mine in gaining materials that pave the way for happy classrooms, happy teachers, happy staff.”

Funded Aug 26, 2019I am so grateful for the gift of computers for my students. They love to delve deeper into topics that they are passionate about. I am lucky that my students have a little more freedom in my classroom to often incorporate these interests into their work via choice activities.
My students are using the technology daily. All students rotate through math review games on them each day. Many students prefer writing on them compared to handwriting their papers. Others prefer to hand write, edit and revise writing assignments before completing their final copy on the laptops. We created google accounts for all of the students and they love being able to submit work electronically
( and honestly, I love not having to chase paper!) My students have also taken to completing lessons from csfirst. The students learned coding to create the MOST AMAZING stories, add their voices and animate their characters. They continue to be excited to share them with their peers and work on coding at home.
We have discussed the enormous gift of generosity that was given to us and knowing that the students take pride in the new technology we have make it all worth while. I cannot thank you enough for seeking out ways to contribute to helping teachers in the classroom.”
