Research has shown that high-quality classroom environments “help children feel safe, secure, and valued. As a result, their self-esteem increases and students are more motivated to engage in the learning process.”The calming carpet rug will be used in the classroom reading nook, so that students can sit comfortably and read to self or with others. The calming color beanbag seats will be used as an alternative seating in the classroom reading nook. They will be able to use these beanbags in other areas of the room as well. The enhanced reading nook will provide a small space for collaborative learning communities. Additionally, my students will be able to share ideas, imagine the possibilities, learn and develop new skill sets within a peaceful, calming environment. The reading nook will be monitored by teacher.
