Currently, our students use headphones to log in and complete lessons on the Aleks and Khan Academy math websites. There are no headphones available and there is very little money in the budget to purchase any at this point in the year. This is especially problematic for students who are falling behind with their reading and math levels because the programs that help them are usually the ones where the passages are read out loud to them. They benefit greatly from hearing the words and following along on the screen. However, that cannot happen without headphones. Using the headphones will also block out distracting noises for sensory sensitive students, as well as the general class, and enhance their environment for learning.
