More Tech, More Possibilities!
Funded Apr 21, 2025Wow! Thank you for your generous donations that helped us get more technology into our student's hands. Every extra resource makes a huge difference in our class. It allows for extra access and individualization of lessons. We can better meet the learning needs in our classroom. Our students will be thrilled to see the new computers you provided. We can do extra research, publishing, and educational games. Thank you for being a part of what helps students learn and grow!”

Funded Mar 30, 2014I cannot thank you enough for your donations toward our class field trip. I waited to write so that my students could actually take the trip and I could share with you what they said about the experience and your generosity.
As far as their adventure, there was so much to see and do. Some students chose to learn more about the environment. They had the challenging task of sorting waste, recyclables, and hazardous materials that are racing by on a conveyor belt. Other students chose to learn more about rockets and stand in the steam being released from the blast off. Still, some chose to learn about weather and stood in a wind tunnel that reached speeds of 60 miles an hour. Of course we also learned about gravity, pulleys, and the predator and prey relationship. There is no way that so many different topics could have been reviewed or introduced inside my classroom in the same engaging way. As one student put it, âÂÂIt was the most fun field trip of the whole year!âÂÂ
When I asked, most students assumed that our school paid for the trip. My students were pleasantly surprised when they found out that people who have never met them provided this wonderful experience. One student shouted, âÂÂWhat, people gave money for us!?â They were so touched by your generosity. When I asked if there was one thing they would want to say to our donors, the most common response was, âÂÂThanks for giving us the money to have a great field trip!â I echo their remark with a big thank you to all who helped make this day possible.”

Funded Jun 7, 2013There has been a buzz around the classroom since the arrival of our new rug! It has been wonderful to have all the students in their own carpet square for whole group instruction, especially for phonics. Our students are grateful that other people care about them and their learning enough to provide this resource.
Our soft, new rug has become an interactive letter and sound game board. I can assign students to sit in a certain letter for the day or hand them a letter and ask them to sit in that square. The possibilities are endless! They love when they get to sit in the square that matches the first letter of their name. I have seen great progress in our alphabet knowledge!
Thank you all for your generous donations that made this fun and essential rug a part of our classroom environment for this year and years to come!”

TIME for Kids to Read a Magazine!
Funded Sep 23, 2012Your donations have made it easier for my students to learn about current events. There are so many things happening in the world around us, but are often not explained at a child's level of understanding. These magazines do just that!
One of the first issues we received was titled "Let's Vote!" It provided simple information about the president's job, the White House, and the two main candidates running in this year's presidential election. My students read this issue and became more informed about our political system. They were also more aware of what the news was saying and what their parents were talking about and voting on.
Every week they are now reading one issue of TIME for Kids during their reading workstation time. They read the magazine with a buddy, allowing them to read and discuss the new information they are getting. They also answer guiding questions to support their thinking and information gathering. I have had many students share with me that this is one of their favorite workstation activities! They are engaged, focused, and enjoying learning!
My class and I appreciate your donations! I am so thankful to see that there are so many kind people out there ready to support our children and their learning.”

Learn and Play...Math Manipulatives Save the Day!
Funded Oct 14, 2011Your donations have made math one of the most fun parts of the day! Prior to getting these manipulatives, my students had to use unifix cubes or bears for counting. Until the end of last year, when I inherited an additional box of unifix cubes from a teacher who was leaving, I didn't even have enough for all students to use them at the same time. This resource was truly needed and transformed the way my students are working on their math skills.
What is so amazing is the versatility of this resource. They can (and have been) used to build patterns, sort by varying characteristics, and improve number sense, with counting, determining if groups of objects have more or less, and addition and subtraction. Some of my students who struggled before understand now that they have the opportunity to touch and move these pieces when counting. The manipulatives have made my instruction and independent work activities much more meaningful and engaging.
My class and I appreciate your donations! I am so thankful to see that there are so many kind people out there ready to support our children and their learning. ”

Kinder Cart for Tech Care
Funded Apr 21, 2011The cart you provided for our classroom has made a huge improvement in our technology usage. Before we would occasionally use the projector, but I would have to set it up while the kids were outside or waste instructional time plugging everything in and setting it up. Half of the equipment would end up on a student's desk. This cart allows me to keep everything hooked up the entire day, and has enough room to hold all the pieces, allowing all students to have their desks to work on.
I have been able to use our technology to share some great online resources and songs. Students have been able to teach each other too! Now I know that everything can be safely locked up at night, and not accidentally bumped off a student's desk.
Thank you for your generous gift! You have changed the quality of education and increased technology exposure. I cannot thank you enough for your support!”

Writing Books
Funded Nov 30, 2010This letter is to let you know how much the books you donated have truly impacted my student's motivation to write and their writing skills. We have been using these stories as model texts and trying to mimic the creativity of the authors we read.
As you can see from the photographs posted on the website, Dogzilla was one such model text for our imaginary narrative unit. First, I read the story to the class. Then, we worked together to write our own class "petzilla" story, using a giant pet, a problem she caused, and a solution to that problem. After our class story, students were sent to their desks to write! Ideas were boiling in their minds! This book was a great model for my students of how to combine things from the environment around them with their imaginations to create wild characters who do out of the ordinary things.
This is just one story that has helped improved the writing of the kindergarten students in my classroom. Your donations provided me with fifteen books that can act as mentor texts and be referenced in writing through out this year, and again and again with new groups of students in the years to come. Both myself and students appreciate your generosity and investment in our learning.
