Every day brings new challenges and big expectations with 100% of my students receiving free lunch. Motivating students to believe in themselves, empowering them to succeed, and acknowledging their hard work is what I strive to achieve daily. In a time when Common Core has taken front stage, my students have upped their game and embraced this change. Technology has found its way into every subject area, and we welcome it. Teaching at this school takes dedication and heart, both of which I have proudly given for the past 18 years. Success is something my students have to work extra hard for. Poverty, gang violence, homelessness, being an illegal immigrant, and family members in jail are just a few of the obstacles my students deal with on a daily basis. Amongst the road blocks put before each and every one of them, they SUCCEED. They go on to 4th grade ready to take on the world and I believe they can.
