I am looking to purchase quality headphones for my students, so that they can pace themselves more efficiently. Not every student has their own set of headphones to listen to videos that I share, or to use with the applications that we frequently use in class. Headphones are important for students to be able to hear instruction for assignments or receive additional help (through videos).
When I play videos for the class, often times individual students will miss something and want to rewind but can't because of the nature of the delivery. With headphones for each student, they are in control of the video. If they are answering a question, the can pause the video while they do so. If they were daydreaming, they can rewind and pick up what they missed.
The headphones that I chose, have a very high rating and I think will work perfectly for what we need. They are partially noise cancelling, so students won't be distracted by their classmates, and will still be able to hear me as I instruct. They are "over the ear" so they will fit a wide range of head sizes, ear sizes and can easily be cleaned. They are wired, so they can be physically hooked up to the computer rather than having to worry about a Bluetooth connection.
Though this seems like an overwhelming amount for a project, when considering the number of students I have, it breaks down to about $10 per student. I am looking forward to the possibilities and freedom I can give my students through new headphones. Help us make this the best year yet!
