  • Gaining Independence Through Basic School Supplies

    Funded Apr 22, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to my classroom. My students will have all the school supplies they will need for the year. They will have markers, crayons, glue, scissors, calculators, velcro, laminating sheets and much more. My students will use these materials to work on IEP goals and learn to become as independent as possible. When my students leave High School at age 22 I need to make sure they are as independent as possible and have skills to become active participants in their communities. Your generous donation will help this happen.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Linstruth

  • Extra Extra: Read All About it, BrainPOP for my Students

    Funded Mar 16, 2021

Thank you for the donation of a subscription to BrainPop. BrainPop is a group of educational websites with over 1,000 short animated movies for students in grades K-12, together with quizzes and related materials, covering the subjects of science, social studies, English, math, engineering and technology, health, and arts and music. The videos and other materials are designed to engage students and assist teachers. They are aligned to state education standards. My students love the characters of Moby and Tim. My students love the supplemental materials like the quizes, and joke pages.”

  • Gaining Independence Through Basic School Supplies

    Funded Dec 19, 2018

My students have been using the new resources in various ways. For example, with my new laminator the students are able to use visual schedules to help them navigate through their day. The students are using the new crayons, markers, and glue sticks to work on their leisure skills. They are participating in various art projects. .

My students were very excited to receive all these new materials for the classroom. They were always complaining about the shape of the old crayons and markers. We were constantly running out of glue sticks, which would upset my students.

My students are going to continue to work on their social and communication skills. These are two big areas we need the most work on.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Linstruth

My students come from low income families, and my school district is a low income school district. My school can't even supply basic classroom materials for my students to use. I have to buy all materials for my students. Also, my students are learning below grade level. What that means is the materials my students need (crayons, markers, scissors, glue sticks) are not supplied by the school, because High School students don't typically need these materials for class. My students will use these materials to work on IEP goals and learn to become as independent as possible. When my students leave High School at age 22 I need to make sure they are as independent as possible and have skills to become active participants in their communities.
