My students will be able to increase their knowledge and creativity by having access to Chrome books. When reading text in my Social Science class and my English Language Arts class, I have students who want to use Chrome books, so they can read about other cultures and countries. I show pictures and provide related articles, but the students could do an independent deep dive with the use of Chrome books. My student who is a map and geography guru is forever asking to use my computer to look things up, and to test my knowledge. He loves stumping me. Just today he asked if there are palm trees in Arizona. I told him I did not think so, but he could check. Of course, he found a picture of a Palm Tree growing in Phoenix. I told him to investigate, and see if he could find out whether palm trees are a native or non native species. This provided another opportunity for my student to learn. Each morning, when I start the day showing a slide of a different animal, I take on all aspects of the slide. With a Chrome book, the students could create and provide the information for the slides, as well as present the slides to the class. This would be a fun, interesting, creative opportunity, as well as informational and empowering. Without access to Chrome books, my students are lagging behind their peers, and I want my students to avail themselves to every educational opportunity students in many schools take for granted.
