I would like to create a library of books, specifically graphic novels and young reader books in Spanish. Books like this in Spanish are something that our school library lacks in quantity so I am looking to build my own classroom library that we can access every day. Similar to "silent sustained reading" in English classes, we will create a space to read quietly in Spanish class. Silent reading time enhances reading enjoyment, gives readers a choice if their own materials so they can pick books of interest and it increases comprehension. In addition, it builds vocabulary and improves Writing Skills. These books will give our classes the ability to have time to do choice reading in the room with books that are interesting and that they can connect with.
