From Osmos to the Cosmos!
Funded Mar 13, 2020These Osmos have really made integrating computer science into our day to day curriculum possible. This project was funded right before the pandemic hit and schools were shut down in March of 2020. My fourth graders were in the middle of planning a social studies scratch project where they were going to recreate a scene from the American Revolution. The extension project was to show a conditional, meaning what would happen if the scene did not play out as it did in history. When I told students that we got this project funded, I can't even describe the looks on their faces. Unfortunately they did not get to experience these wonderful materials. This year my current fourth graders all have DOE issued iPads and we have been using the Osmos as a center in math currently. We have been working with our place value strategies and we cannot wait to see how we can use them for geometry and fractions. Thank you so much for funding this project and we cannot wait to explore all the possibilities of using them in other subjects.”

Help Us Grow Our Non Fiction Library
Funded Oct 23, 2018You have made our dreams as well as our students' dreams come true. Our children were so excited to see these new nonfiction books come out of the packages and are now able to choose higher interest books on their level. Our students really enjoy reading books about weather, animals, and the science behind roller coasters.
We have more girls grabbing for nonfiction books now than when we began our unit. Our students have gone up in reading levels across the board because they can't wait for independent reading time. They got to create special projects at the end of the unit and present their information to their peers.
Next school year we can't wait to reorganize the library and put these new books on beautiful display so that our new students will be just as excited to start this unit as we are. But the greatest impact this new nonfiction library has had would be to our ELL students and our special education students. They have now been able to access the curriculum better and they enjoy talking to a partner about what they have learned from these books, which has improved their language and social skills. Again thank you from the bottom of my heart, my co-teacher's heart, and our incredible students' hearts.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. DiBlasi
