During the month of May, my students experience May-thology. We read myths from ancient Greece and Rome, King Arthur and Norse. We learn about the historical context of these stories and connect the influence of the myths to our world today. The culminating projects are shared on Mythology Day. I encourage the kids to dress up, and we eat Greek or Northern European foods (olives, feta, hummus and pita, or herring and honey). The students present their projects and share what they have learned about these ancient cultures. This year, I want to take it further and transform my classroom for them and really bring it to life. I want to take the shower curtains and use them as backdrops. I want to cover the desks with table cloths and make it special.
