We are in a low income school, and most of my students are not exposed to technology on a daily basis. The technology we did have was taken away because it was outdated, and we are not sure if we are receiving new equipment any time soon. So in the meantime I would like to have technology available for my students so they can start learning, using and taking advantage of the resources available in the real world. My students will use the Amazon Fire tablets to explore educational applications like "The Imagination Station" (iStation) to practice reading comprehension skills, understand and use new vocabulary and review letter recognition and Education Galaxy (www.educationgalaxy.com) to teach and reinforce mathematical skills like adding and subtracting, number recognition, problem solving and more. I am a firm believer in the digital revolution and the impact it has in our kids' lives even when they are not directly exposed to it, so what better opportunity to take advantage of this and help them have access to technology from an early stage and prepare them for a better future.
