You know that feeling when your back starts to ache and you get antsy because you have been sitting in the same chair all day? My students get that feeling too. When they start to get that antsy feeling their energy can be channeled into things that may disrupt the class. Students are more productive and focused when they're able to get up, move and be comfortable. When my students go home they may not have someone who can help them with their homework or invest in their educational future so every second spent in the classroom is valuable. Having a choice of where they sit will help eliminate distractions and lead to a more productive environment.
