  • SOL: Save Our Laptops

    Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom. For the last two years we have been using our donors choose laptops and kept them secure in a locked cart that was made for us by a school staff member. The cart worked but did not meet our needs. Thanks to you we can now secure our laptops, charge all of them at once, and not be concerned that they will fall when moving the cart. My students can now access the laptops and return them without needing assistance to make sure that they are piled correctly and the charger is on. My students, co-teacher, and I are truly grateful for your generosity in helping us to keep our laptops safe, secure, and accessible for all of us. We would not have been able to do this without you!”

  • Global Goes Google

    First, I would like to thank you for your donation and keeping my students' needs in mind. The ASUS laptops are enabling my students to utilize Google Classroom on a daily basis. My students are now able to incorporate technology into their learning everyday. Each day my students are enhancing their knowledge of Global history because thanks to you, they now have technology at their fingertips.

    The ASUS laptops excite my students most because they are able to use technology in the classroom on a daily basis. They are learning college and career readiness by incorporating technology into the classroom, but are also obtaining information to enhance their understanding of Global. Students are now virtually travelling through time by studying the past and how it has affected the present on a daily basis.

I teach Social Studies in a Title I New York City Public School. I have students of all different backgrounds that come to my school to not only get a "traditional" education but also a career and technical education as we are the only CTE school in the area. Although my students come from all over the island and even some from other boros, the majority of my students come from low income homes and often help to care for their younger siblings putting their own needs and wants to the side. This includes school supplies. I would like to provide my students with Chromebooks so that they can interact with the curriculum, have videos, maps, and other documents at their fingertips. My ENL students can translate specific words, and students with disabilities can view images that will allow them to better understand the material. My students work extremely hard to achieve their goals many with the odds against them. Please help my students achieve success in their educational careers as well as help them to fully engage in their learning.
